I used to think a good brand meant looking polished.
So I got the logo, the fonts, the colours, booked the brand shoot & built the website - all the things we’re told make us look credible.
And I still felt fucking invisible.
The problem wasn’t that I didn’t look good, it was that none of it looked or sounded like me.
My branding was basically just a Pinterest board regurgitated - my copy sounded ‘professional’ but lacked any actual personality, my content ‘explained’ what I did but didn’t offer any of my perspective or opinions… the whole thing could have been anyone's.
No wonder I was fighting for every sale.
In 2020 I went deep on brand strategy - and it changed everything. I got obsessive about what actually makes a brand work.
